Quick University Recap
Hey guys and gals, I wanted to reach out real quick after a long weekend and quick action packed couple of days in Blacksburg(check out my twitter to get a little more info...;)But as for the tourney in Akron we had our ups and downs, hots and colds, but all in all a quality experience for just about all of our guys. Each guy got atleast one win, and 10 out of 11 were .500 or better, with Kyle Norstrem (125) and Andrew Dunn (285) coming out with All-American 8th place finishes. Both these guys are True freshman and to place top 8 in the 25 and under division is pretty cool.
We will always be tough to please and will never be satisfied, but they both fought hard and brought back some hardware. The boys as a group left a lot on the table, but now we know what to work on moving forward and where we can close the gap. Many of these guys are young, and some had never wrestled or had very little experience in Freestyle, so Coach Robie and I were proud to see them compete, and represent our program. While doing this we were able to watch and connect with some young HS studs during the Cadet(17&under) world team trials, so all in the all, a successful trip to Akron!
Tommorrow we leave for Lincoln, NE, with David McFadden weighing in Thursday and wrestling Friday and Frank and Ty weighing in Friday wrestling Saturday.(follow @southeastrtc for results) The Jr. Worlds are in Finland Mid August and the Sr. Worlds are in Paris late August.
Lastly, a huge shoutout to our SouthEastern Regional Training Center supporters who allow us to make these trips and fulfill these guys dreams in making world teams and chasing Olympic aspirations! This in itself will elevate Hokie Wrestling to the next level!
